January 19th, 2010 By John

Kraft foods is trying to buy the English candy company Cadbury for $18.9 billion. Cadbury has always stood out as a unique, high quality product. If the shareholders end up going for the Kraft bid, they will be just another brand added to the mega company Kraft. Below is a list of all the Kraft [...]

Observations on War

October 12th, 2009 By mark

My father fought in World War II, volunteered for the Army and volunteered to be a forward artillery observer. He lasted about 50 days in combat, twice as long as most FOAs. One side of his face was blown off and he lost an eye. I didn’t know he won a bronze [...]

Health Care oppisition lacks basis

August 6th, 2009 By mark

At this point, I am neither in favor of health care reform nor against it.  No doubt change needs to be made; however, until Congress brings forward a final bill, I do not have enough information to know if the plan is a good one or bad one.  The American public may not be able [...]

Monsanto and Deceptive Advertising (Imagine That!)

May 28th, 2009 By John

I like to listen to NPR in the mornings. The programming in my area plays Marketplace. Recently, I have started hearing ads for Monsanto on Marketplace. The ad says:

“Marketplace Morning Report is supported by Monsanto. Committed to sustainable agriculture, breeding hybrid and bio-tech seeds designed to increase crop yields and conserve natural resources. ProduceMoreConserveMore.com.”

April 15th, 2009 By John

“Delays or major restrictions in accessing our needed resources for environmentally responsibly development are not in the nation’s or state’s best interest.”

Check out this awesome video

.
This video is an excellent example of how when you invest in quality design, people will actually get the point. If this were a nomal public service annoucement, not many people would care to watch it. Instead, the video is entertaining and fun and cool and (most of all) informative.  High [...]

Hooray for High Taxes, this time.

March 19th, 2009 By John

Everybody has probably heard about this already, but Congress is going to vote on a bill that will put a 90% federal tax on the bonusus that AIG paid out with taxpayer money. While this bill was drafted because of the actions of AIG, it actually targets anybody who makes a lot of money and [...]

White Collar Crimes Get a Slap on the Wrist

February 18th, 2009 By John

Bernard Madoff.  Ponzi schemes. Most of us have heard about them by now. I don’t really want to write about them. What I want to do, is use his example of how our law systems caters to the rich and doesn’t give a damn about the poor.

If I robbed somebody else — and lets even [...]

Art, Politics and Multimedia!!!

January 2nd, 2009 By John

Check out this awesome video I ran across at vimeo.com/scene360. I love how this video is extremely Russian Constructivist in design and merges those ideas in a new-age multimedia format.  The lyrics behind the song also have good ideas; basically saying that today’s society run’s too much off money. So take a look and enjoy.
